Working to support governance in Bexley schools
Following the success of the Head Teacher Induction Booklet (updated in January 2020), the Workforce Development, Succession Planning and Development is producing a similar booklet for governors. This booklet will contain information on models of governance, a glossary of educational terms and details of relevant contacts in the Local Authority. It will also be conducting a survey of governors to ascertain the health of governance in Bexley schools.
Members of the sub-group, at their meeting of 29th January 2020, also learnt that there will be a head teacher induction programme for new head teachers who have joined since September 2019. A CPD framework of all training offered to schools by the Local Authority and its partners will also be used by the sub-group to identify gaps in training offered to Bexley school staff and to attract and retain new teachers for Bexley schools. The group welcomed Shirley Puxty to the Local Authority as a traded service Local Education System Leader, who is looking to run a CPD Lead network.
