What is the Bexley Oracy Network?
The Bexley Oracy Network is an extension of the Talk Matters Project that brings together educators from across the borough who are committed to strengthening oracy provision in their schools. Our shared vision is to ensure every child in Bexley has access to rich, purposeful opportunities to develop their spoken language and communication skills – essential tools for learning, life, and future success.

What it offers schools
The Bexley Oracy Network (BON) is building a movement to ensure that every child develops the confidence, communication skills and voice they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Emerging from the highly successful Talk Matters programme, the network brings together schools committed to placing high-quality talk, pupil voice and communication at the heart of teaching, learning and leadership.
As a Bexley Oracy Network member, your school will gain access to:
A growing library of high-quality resources, videos and practical guides that demonstrate effective oracy strategies in action
Exclusive access to the latest research, training, audits and development opportunities, all hosted through a dedicated BON website
A structured pathway through the Bexley Oracy Awards, recognising and celebrating excellence in oracy practice
Visits to leading oracy schools to see outstanding practice first-hand and learn directly from colleagues
Links to exciting initiatives such as the Charlton Athletic Oracy Cup, with plans for wider regional and national expansion
Access to accredited Oracy Cambridge facilitators and expertise informed by the very latest national research and evidence
Opportunities to participate in specialist research and development clusters focused on areas such as Early Years, SEND, Student Leadership and Secondary Oracy
Representation at national conferences and events, ensuring Bexley schools remain at the forefront of educational innovation
Invitations to the flagship Bexley Oracy Conference, where schools share best practice, celebrate success and showcase their impact
Most importantly, membership places your school at the centre of a growing professional community dedicated to improving outcomes, increasing inclusion and giving every child a voice.
With more than 25 schools already committed and growing interest across the region and beyond, now is the perfect time to become part of the Bexley Oracy Network and help shape the future of oracy education.
Together, we can create a lasting legacy where talk truly matters.
