Children’s University growing fast

The Children’s University is up and running in Bexley, with eight schools reaping the benefits of this nationwide charity which encourages and celebrates participation in extra-curricular activities in and out of school.
Research from the Sutton Trust reported that participation in extra-curricular activities can positively impact on attainment, increase a pupil’s positive identification with school, and build self-confidence and resilience, whilst an EEF evaluation showed a direct link between participation in Children’s University and increased attainment in reading and maths.  Participation could also benefit your school because within the new Ofsted framework, Children’s University will help to demonstrate your school’s commitment to personal development and character education.
Children and young people involved with Children’s University receive a “Passport to Learning” and each time they take part in an activity at a Learning Destination, they receive a time stamp. A Learning Destination is an organisation which offers high quality learning opportunities, from yoga to musical theatre, from sports to art.  You can find out more about participation and about being involved in a current EEF project by contacting Louise Chalkley, Children’s University Officer for Bexley.
