Bexley KS2 Moderation Team 2023/24
For the attention of: Headteacher, Senior Leaders and Year 6 teachers
The Local Authority is looking to recruit moderators to join our KS2 moderation team for the academic year 2023/24. The role of an LA moderator is open to all qualified and serving KS2 practitioners, both senior leaders and teachers, with in-depth knowledge of assessment at the end of KS2, and able to lead a professional dialogue with practitioners.
The role of an LA moderator is to:
* ensure the accuracy and consistency of teacher assessment and moderation of KS2 writing
* scrutinise evidence against the national frameworks, including the pre-key stage standards
* complete documentation to evidence the outcomes of moderation visits
* engage in moderation procedures as required by the LA to ensure excellent KS2 moderation and assessment practice across Bexley
A KS2 moderator will need to demonstrate:
* recent experience of working in Year 6
* a thorough knowledge of standards for end of KS2 statutory assessments
* rigorous and robust assessment and moderation practice within their own school context and in collaboration with other schools
* excellent communication skills providing support and challenge
* an ability to work together with peers and colleagues.

Please note previous moderators are not automatically recruited – they will need to re-apply and follow the STA requirements for approval to moderate.
Attendance at all training events is a mandatory condition for new and experienced moderators to ensure consistency of approach for all schools.
CPD for moderators is LA funded and we will pay schools for moderators to carry out moderations, however, we will not pay release or supply costs for moderators attending training.
