Signs of Safety model helps identify children at risk
Inclusion sub-group members learnt how important it is for schools to make meticulous record of all risks to their children to help professionals assess risk to children in future. At their meeting of 9th July 2019, members heard about Signs of Safety, the model used in Bexley for quantifying risk to children caused by adults or ‘at risk’ behaviours. They learnt that the SoS harm matrix assists social workers to articulate the impact on the child and from that create an individual safety plan.
At the meeting, members also learnt that the Head Teacher Induction booklet would be available to new head teachers in September 2019.
Colette Doran-Hannon, who has co-chaired the sub-group since the Strategic Education Partnership was established, stood down from her role. Sue Brooks, co-chair, thanked her for her contribution. The post will be advertised on the Partnership website in September.
