Transition resources
Transitions between different phases of education can be exciting and challenging in equal measures and it is recognised as an area that can always be developed and improved. Two of the sub-groups took feedback from the Head Teacher Forum from June 2024 and looked at how to support transition at different stages and details of these can be found below:
Transition from primary to secondary
The Behaviour, Safeguarding and Attendance Sub-group have created a document supporting the Social, Emotional and Mental Health of pupils as they move between primary and secondary school. This document takes into account the views and responses of over 190 Year 7 pupils and we hope it is of help to both primary and secondary schools:
Best practice for transition guidance
This should also be looked at alongside the work carried out by the Education, Performance and Attainment Sub-group who have looked at supporting the academic transition in previous years.
Transition into Reception
The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Sub-group have also created a document to support transition but in this case, supporting the transition into Reception for Early Years settings and Nurseries. It helps to share ideas on how to support transition across the year:
