Closing the Word Gap Toolkit launch

The Closing the Word Gap Toolkit 2021-2022, developed by the Education Performance and Achievement sub-group, is now available in the Document Centre, alongside a training presentation to support you in its use.
The toolkit is intended to support your school in identifying ‘best practice,’ giving you a framework for discussion and implementation.  Using a RAG-rated system, it allows you to self-assess your provision to ensure language development runs as a golden thread throughout your curriculum offer.
The training presentation shares research supporting the need to close the word gap to reduce the disadvantaged gap, Ofsted’s view of teaching language and vocabulary, tiers of language, themes of the toolkit and suggested ways to use it in your school.
