Data dashboard finalised for the SEND sub-group
After members had considered how much information they would need to fulfil the work of the sub-group, they finalised the data set that they plan to monitor each term. The data has been selected to highlight how pupils at SEN Support and with EHCPs fare in the education system, including where they are educated, whether they go missing from education, are looked after by the Local Authority or receive exclusions (fixed term and permanent) from school.
At the meeting on 28th November 2019, members also considered a proposal to review and quality assure the resourced provisions in Bexley schools. The aim of the review would be to share good practice and offer a peer support model for all lead teachers in resourced provisions. It would also ensure that the right provision is available in Bexley to meet children’s needs (as recorded on their EHCPs) and to create opportunities to set up links between schools and the Local Authority including professional networks.
Other areas the group will be working on, going forward, include SEND support for post-16 students in further education provisions and formulating a way to meet the needs of young people with SLD and ASD and challenging behaviour.
