Making progress on the Bexley Inclusion model

At their meeting of 11th June 2021, sub-group members gave an average rating of 6/10 on the scaling question, “As a Local Authority, where are we at meeting the needs of all children in Bexley, including those at risk of exclusion?”  Although the data-sharing weekly return being ready to roll out and support from Horizons being easier to access were seen as positives, others had experienced some difficulties with AP and some LA service teams, exacerbated by the pandemic.
Members went on to learn about the AP model in Bromley, which had been improved as a result of consultation with secondary school head teachers, and about the offer from Horizons in Bexley.   Details of the latter included an outline of the provision available, what schools should include in an application to smooth the process, why applications are successful or not, personalised learning and curriculum offered and how impact is measured along with the vision for Horizons going forward.
The termly Inclusion report was also shared, as was an update on the new Managed Move Protocol, which has brought some early successes.
