Creative Bexley’s youth consultation gives direction

With more than 1,000 respondents and five focus groups, Bexley’s Cultural Education Partnership youth consultation has given useful insight into culture and creativity in Bexley.

Although two-thirds of respondents were unaware of where cultural activities took place in Bexley, the majority said arts and culture were important to them.  On the back of the responses, several projects are underway, including one with Bow Arts involving year 5, 6 and 7 pupils from two primary schools and four secondary schools; another with Speech Bubbles using a drama specialist and a teaching assistant to work with year 1 pupils from three schools on speech and language activities; and another with ArtsTrain to develop musicians in secondary schools.

Other developments include creating an educator network to support schools with the Artsmark accreditation.
