Data dashboard set and Inclusion Commissioning Plan outlined
An Inclusion Commissioning Plan, structured in a similar way to the recently published SEN Commissioning Plan, was discussed at the Places and Planning sub-group meeting on 4th November 2019. This work is a major project which would be most relevant to both the Inclusion and Places and Planning sub-groups, and may be overseen by a separate task and finish group.
Members also agreed the content of a data dashboard, which would be useful in giving direction to the work of the sub-group. Information to be monitored would include: in-year school applications received in total and by month of receipt; school vacancy return rates by secondary and primary schools; and vacancy rates for admission into reception and year 7, showing the impact of late applications and in-year admissions.
Applications closed on 30th September 2019 for the new SEN Free School and Bexley revealed to Places and Planning sub-group members that it had received six strong applications from organisations based in and out of the borough. A shortlist will be drawn up jointly by the Local Authority and the DfE and those candidates will be interviewed by a joint panel. The winner in the process is likely to be notified by the end of February 2020.
The building work for the new school, on the Halt Robin Road site, will be self-delivered by Bexley.
