Have your say on Beths new building plans

Beths Grammar School is seeking the views of stakeholders around its plan to accommodate 520 existing secondary and sixth form students in a new three-storey building.  Planning permission has been granted and, following the consultation, Beths will apply to the DfE for consent.  The consultation period ends on 6th May 2022.

Since September 2013, Beths has increased its PAN from 160 to 192 and, since it became compulsory for children to remain in education until the age of 18, the sixth form has added further places to take account of students from Bexley schools with no sixth form facilities.  The school is currently experiencing severe overcrowding.

The original expansion in the PAN was made to address the issue of selective students from the north of the borough not gaining a place at a Bexley selective school and to increase the number of places in a boys’ selective school.

Following the development, there will be more private study areas, enabling sixth form students to remain on site throughout the day and the enhanced facilities will allow for wider community uses of school buildings.
