The Strategic Education Partnership held its first learning visit on Thursday 28th June 2018 at The Harris Academy, Falconwood, as part of its aim to co-produce solutions to the complex challenges that impact on the quality of children’s education.

The visit, which set out to illustrate how data can be used to tailor whole school and classroom practice to improve teaching and learning for disadvantaged children, was led by The Harris Academy Falconwood’s Terrie Askew, Principal; Kevin Watson, Vice Principal and Mickael Mouellic, Assistant Principal (Pupil Premium).

It was attended by Bexley head teachers and senior leaders from five secondary schools and three primary schools.

The visit consisted of an initial briefing, an observation of an assembly and observations of two separate lessons. This was followed by a presentation on how detailed analysis of performance data can inform a whole school leadership approach to quality first teaching to improve the achievement of disadvantaged children. The delegates were encouraged to reflect on how they could apply these strategies to their own schools.

With the help of supporting schools, the Strategic Education Partnership plans to offer further learning visits to schools and academies in the future to share knowledge and areas of best practice to the wider education community in Bexley.
