National Toilet Day – supporting school readiness with information for parents
In recognition of National Toilet Day on 19th November, we are reaching out to organisations across the borough to share an important campaign aimed at helping local families.
Potty training is a major milestone in a child’s early development and plays a vital role in school readiness. Being able to use the toilet independently boosts a child’s confidence, helps them transition smoothly into school or nursery environments, and supports their overall independence. When children master foundational self-care skills like potty training, they are better equipped to focus, learn, and thrive alongside their peers from day one.
To help parents navigate this journey, Bexley’s Best Start in Life team has created a helpful poster titled “Bexley’s little steps to big independence: Support your child with potty training”. Please find the poster below:
As children grow towards starting school, we also want to remind families and settings about our Born Ready, School Ready, Bexley Ready initiative. This resource continues to support parents in preparing their children not just for the classroom, but for all aspects of early childhood development and independence: Introduction to the Born Ready, School Ready, Bexley Ready guide | London Borough of Bexley.
We would be incredibly grateful if you could display this poster in your staff rooms, parent noticeboards, or share it digitally with the families you support. Every conversation we start helps normalise the process and ensures parents know where to turn for guidance.
Thank you so much for your continued partnership in supporting Bexley’s children and families to thrive.
