Positive response to Cross-Phase Language Toolkit and next steps

Primary schools which took part in the Cross-phase Language Toolkit pilot study for four weeks during February and March, have given extremely positive feedback on its usefulness.  Those who attended the feedback meeting and who responded to the post-pilot survey said that their schools would use the toolkit going forward, to make improvements to their school’s approach to closing the word gap, revisiting it to chart progress at least once a term.
The majority of participants also commented that the layout of the toolkit was clear and accessible, the language of the descriptors was clear and that they would recommend the document to colleagues in other Bexley schools.
In response to all the feedback, the sub-group will be making minor improvements, ready for a full launch of the toolkit in May 2021.  Training will be offered via a webinar and some schools involved in the pilot may be able to offer some support.
Secondary school participants said that they would welcome the toolkit in September 2021.
