Sharing data to support ‘No Need to Exclude’ ambition
Members of the Inclusion sub-group scrutinised an exclusions data spreadsheet which it is hoped all schools will agree to return on a weekly or fortnightly basis at their meeting on 28th September 2020. The data collection has the aim of improving the timeliness and quality of support offered to pupils, their families and schools, where there is risk of exclusion. Members learnt that a data sharing agreement is being drawn up at the Local Authority and that the sub-group will soon be writing to all head teachers to explain their rationale, as part of Bexley’s ambition that there should be no need to exclude.
The sub-group also learnt that work was underway to revise the Fair Access process and that there had been a significant rise in the number of children referred to Children’s Social Care since schools had reopened to all pupils in September.
