Tackling the language gap

Work streams in the Education Performance and Achievement sub-group will focus on closing the language gap for children as a way of tackling disadvantage, members agreed at their latest meeting on 25th February 2020.  Members are using Why Closing the Word Gap Matters (Oxford University Press) as a starting point for addressing the needs of pupils coming into Reception classes and those transitioning to secondary school, particularly high achievers in non-selective settings.  Their sub-group action plan, which will be finalised at the next meeting, will detail the activity planned for the next year.
