RISE school attendance and attainment conference for primary leaders

Join primary school leaders in a virtual event providing fresh insight & strategies on improving attendance and attainment in your school.
The conference takes place across two afternoons:
- Wednesday 4 March, 12:30pm–3:30pm
- Thursday 5 March, 12:30pm–3:30pm
Each afternoon features different content so please join both days. Links will be provided with the agenda prior to the conference.
The conference brings together senior officials from the Department for Education, sector experts and analysts, and leaders from primary schools who are leading change in their settings.
You will have the opportunity to:
- hear directly from senior DfE officials on national priorities and current insights.
- gain practical guidance from data.
- learn from other primary school leaders who are achieving strong and sustained improvements.
- have access to tools, ideas, and frameworks to implement immediately in your setting.
Sessions include
- Using data to tackle absence: how to interpret attendance data effectively and turn insights into action.
- Focus on literacy and phonics: strengthening foundations for early reading success.
- Parental engagement and effective communication: building constructive relationships that support regular attendance and learning.
- Developing a whole school approach to securing good attendance: practical models that embed consistent expectations across staff, pupils, and families.
- Spotting potential marginal attendance gains: techniques to identify quick wins and small changes that yield big impact.
- Targeted support for pupils: what effective, timely, personalised intervention looks like in practice.
- Supporting transition into secondary: preparing pupils and families with the information and routines that secure strong continuation of education.
- Expert panel: a panel session answering questions from attendees around securing good attendance and attainment.

Led by schools with strong practice, the programme offers access to:
- a structured attendance and behaviour CPD offer
- opportunities to visit the allocated lead school as part of termly open-day events
- opportunities to discuss and share effective practice with other schools in the hub
- eligible partner schools will receive 10 days of leadership support over 3 terms from their allocated lead school
