Schools use Apprenticeship Levy towards leadership CPD

John Cobb, of the National College of Education, was a guest at the Workforce Development, Succession Planning and Governance sub-group meeting of 4th July 2019, sharing how schools can use the Apprenticeship Levy to fund the vast majority of their investment on leadership training as well as on funding new recruits.

He explained that recent changes to the use of the Levy mean that once a school has spent its Levy, the government will fund 90% of the cost of courses through co-investment; this can be spent on school leaders at all stages of development.  NCE education courses at levels 3, 5 and 7 have been approved for the Apprenticeship Levy.

Sub-group members also learnt that seven Canadian teachers are to be employed in Bexley schools as a direct result of the link made earlier in the year through Reed Education.
